In a nutcase, where are you, where have you been and where are you going.
I remember my transition from High School to College. I honestly didn’t know what course to take. I tried to list down things that interest me and possibly formulate a path for me. Still, I decided to follow the path that my peers went to. Eventually, we carved our own paths. In the end, my peers took a different course, I took another. Did I like it? Probably, I was too confused to know.
This is one dilemma of most of our youth today. Direction. Purpose. Destination. Because our minds are open to possibilities, we try to grasp everything. We want to pursue everything even though some may turn out to be just passing whims.
Most of the time, we just find ourselves at a standstill. The scene is like standing in the middle of a crossroads. Most of us would rather just sit down and let someone else do the work. Someone else is more talented. Someone else sings better. Someone else preaches better. Someone else could do everything. We need to remember though that standing still takes us nowhere. It applies in all aspect of our lives.
I met a friend who complained that lately he felt really tired in serving. He felt that he’s all alone in leading the youth and felt that every responsibility was dumped on him. If you feel the same way once or can relate to this now, probably you need to change something in your life. Personally, I’ve discovered that you are never alone as long as you spend an awful lot of time with God. Service could be tiring if you don’t seem to want to include God in the picture, if you yourself seem too tired to call on God on a daily basis. We’ve been working for 6 days a week, a day to serve God shouldn’t hurt if you also worked with God during the other 6 days.
Yet whether you are standing there deciding where to go or moving towards a destination you made yourself, remember the direction that God has set for us.
“Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
All of us are children of God, but our paths run in different directions. Our callings are very much different. Some are called to be doctors, some teachers, some preachers, some singers, some musicians, and many others. So where are you right now? What path are you taking? Whatever path you may be taking our purpose in life is to point the lost to God. We have one direction and that is to go. Wherever going is, it is up to the one who sent us. You’ll just have to ask.
Our purpose is set on where we are going. We are told to just “GO” so our purpose must be to make disciples and baptize people. Whatever path you should decide to take, whatever talents you decide to hone, remember to “go.” That’s where God wants you to be.
Where are we going? The rest of the verse says it all.
‘and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Our destination is to be with God. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the end of age or the middle of age as long as God is with us. Nothing else matters. Our destination is simply, God. To reach that end, we must go and point others to our destination.
